Dr. Troll provides therapy for children, adolescents, and adults ages ten and up. “I’m passionate about helping people gain balance, perspective, and self-worth in their lives. Every person has purpose. Every person’s life has meaning. Not one person is a mistake. I believe these truths wholeheartedly. Sometimes, there are difficult, confusing, and traumatizing life events that can overshadow these facts. As a therapist, I’m dedicated to helping people process such experiences and regain control of their life stories.”</image:caption>

<image:caption>Generally speaking, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) focuses on the connection between our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. That is, how we think about (or perceive) something, influences how we feel, which can then influence how we act, respond, or behave.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Dr. Troll specializes in anxiety and depression disorders. Anxiety disorders are common in children, adolescents, and adults. According to the National Institute of Mental Health, roughly 18 percent of adults and 25 percent of adolescents living in the United States will experience anxiety. Common types of anxiety include: generalized anxiety, social anxiety, phobias, and panic disorders. Depression disorders, too, are common among children, adolescents, and adults. <image:title>About - Dr. Troll received both his Masters and Doctorate in Counseling Psychology from Northwest University. Over the past several years, Dr. Troll has had the opportunity to work with individuals from varying backgrounds, and in various settings. He has worked as a clinician at an intensive outpatient drug and alcohol treatment program for youth; as a facilitator and supervisor for court-ordered, therapeutic visitations; and most recently as a therapist at Developing Minds Clinic. Dr. Troll’s doctoral dissertation focused on depression and social self-efficacy among children and adolescents living in the Kangemi slum of Nairobi, Kenya. Dr. Troll’s therapeutic approach leans heavily on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Positive Psychology. As such, Dr. Troll sees therapy as a collaborative process (two people working on one problem) where identification of personal values and unrecognized strengths help individuals reclaim control and authorship of their life story. Additionally, learning coping strategies for solving issues associated with problematic thoughts, feelings, and behaviors play a key role in his therapeutic process.</image:title>
<image:caption>In his off-time, Dr. Troll enjoys traveling, hiking, photography, creative writing, and going to movies.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Within the framework of CBT, the therapist and client work collaboratively to develop an understanding of presenting problem(s) and to develop a treatment strategy. Through exercises in the session, and the occasional “homework” exercise outside of sessions, individuals are helped to develop coping skills, whereby they can learn to change their own problematic thinking, emotions and behavior. CBT is based on the following core principles: Psychological problems are based, in part, on faulty, unhelpful, or unhealthy ways of thinking. Psychological problems are based, in part, on learned patterns of unhelpful behavior. People suffering from psychological problems can learn healthier ways of coping with them, thereby finding symptom relief and becoming more effective in their lives. apa.org</image:caption>
